Anthony Walker, founder of Tabled
The founder · A TYSI concept

I built Tabled from
inside the room.

I spent a decade in restaurants, then opened one of my own and watched it close. Tabled is what that decade taught me, built for everyone still trying to keep their doors open.

01 · Who I am

I came up in restaurants.

I'm Anthony. I have spent most of my life in restaurants. I started on a dish pit and worked my way up to lead general manager, running multiple stores before I opened my own place.

Most people who build software for local business study it from the outside. I built Tabled from inside the room. I know what a slow Tuesday costs, what one bad review does to a Friday, and how it feels to watch a feed you cannot afford to fight.

02 · The Yoke years

The chapter that taught me everything.

2022 · Kokomo

Yoke Social Table opens

The first kitchen, on Markland. Fresh food made to order, built ground up from the community and the people who came up alongside the work.

2024 · Indianapolis

Yoke at The Garage

A bigger room and a faster pace. We expanded the kitchen into a second market, and learned first-hand how hard local reach really is.

Dec 2024 · The close

The food was right. The room wasn't.

Yoke closed. Hard, public, and expensive. Half of small businesses do not make it five years. Mine didn't. I have sat with that, and I have written about it.

2026 · Every Main Street

Tabled

Not another restaurant. The platform every shop, studio, salon, and restaurant should have had to begin with. Built from inside the room, not from a pitch deck.

03 · The problem I lived

A decade with tools built for someone else.

  • Directories that reduce you to a pin and a star.
  • Social feeds that reach one or two percent of your own followers, unless you pay.
  • Marketplaces that take up to a third of every order, and keep your customer.
04 · Why I built it

So I built the one I wanted.

Tabled is the counter-bet. A zip-code-first network where real storefronts, events, and neighbors are the whole feed, ordered by proximity, not engagement.

You reach the whole neighborhood, keep the margin, and keep the relationship. Every operator application is read by hand. Built in Indiana, by someone who lived the problem.

05 · What we believe

Make the businesses that give a town its character impossible to overlook, and give the people who live there a feed that is, at last, their actual town.

Local is the algorithm

Proximity and recency decide the feed, not engagement.

The neighborhood, not 1%

When you post, it reaches the town. Reach is a right here, not a purchase.

No middleman

The operator keeps the customer, the margin, and the relationship.

Operators are co-founders

Businesses are partners, not inventory. Every application is read by hand.

06 · How we work

Honest over hyped

No inflated numbers, no growth hacks, no dark patterns. We publish our prices, name our benchmarks, and walk our markets in person.

Local-first economics

0% commission on direct orders. Flat delivery fees. Sponsored dollars split among the operators in the block. Money stays in the town it came from.

No algorithm

Chronological, zip-code-first, human-curated. Your feed is your town — not what a model thinks will keep you scrolling.

The compass

I lost the room. I never lost the reason.

Yoke closed. That loss is not a footnote in my story. It is the foundation of it. The room taught me that a business is never only a business. It is a place people belong to. Community, connection, and culture are not a strategy I chose. They are the compass I steer by.

I know the fight to be seen. Doing the work while a feed hands your whole neighborhood to a stranger three states away. That fight is not a season you pass through. It is a way of life, and it is worth living.

So here is the bet I am making with mine. Technology should give people back to each other. It should make belonging easier, not louder.

Build it with me.

I'm building the thing I wished existed when I watched good places in my town close quietly — a network where being local is the advantage, not the handicap.
